Dolomite is a mineral and a rock-forming mineral that is composed of calcium magnesium carbonate (CaMg(CO3)2). It is named after the French mineralogist Déodat Gratet de Dolomieu, who first described its properties in the late 18th century. Dolomite is often found in sedimentary rock formations and can occur in a variety of …

The upper Phosphorite horizon is found at the contact of Abbotabad and Hazira Formations and occurs within cherty dolomite. The second phosphorite horizon is at about 32 m from the top and is hosted in dolomitic limestone. The phosphorite deposits show generally a nodular or pellet-like structure. The pellets show variation in their …

Pakistan is home to many varieties of minerals, some of which make it prominent in the mineral world. The exploration of Pakistan's mineral wealth is far from complete and has rarely been conducted in the north and northwest of the country. This article presents the newest exploration and examination of minerals from an unexploited …
Pakistan is known to have significant reserves of dolomite, a mineral composed of calcium magnesium carbonate. Dolomite is commonly used in various …
This research aims to understand the origin, diagenetic evolution, and sedimentary features of the dolomites that make up the Khyber Limestone Formation …

Dolomite is an earthy mineral. It is a Carbonate mineral, also known as Calcium Magnesium Carbonate. Generally it is white to off white in color. Its chemical formulae is CaMg(CO₃)₂. This mineral crystallizes in the …
The Dolomite deposits are also found near Datta Nala (about 11 km North East of Makerwal). Doya-Lunda, Normia and Punnu (Near coal mines of Mulla Khel) and near Burikhel in District Mianwali. The thickness of the deposits ranges from 200 to 300 ft. The dolomite deposits of District Mianwali are mainly found in Kingriali Formation of …
In 2021, Pakistan imported US$331.7 million worth of dolomite (in different forms), while the export was worth US$3.79 million. In powdered form, dolomite has manifold industrial aspects.
The potential dolomite deposits are wide spread throughout the stratigraphy of Pakistan i.e. Himalayan fold -and-thrust belt, Khyber-Hazara Belt, Karakoram Block (sedimentary belts), Attock-...

Bauxite deposits are residuals of intense lateritic weathering under warm and humid palaeoclimates. The Triassic–Jurassic Boundary (TJB) interval in the Salt Range, Pakistan, provides one such case of bauxite deposits formation along the SW tropical Neo-Tethyan passive margin. Thick, red bauxites/bauxitic clays occur at the …
Mineralogical studies of the magnesite deposits in the Khuzdar District, Balochistan, Pakistan were made using the X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique.
Dolomite forms through a complex process known as diagenesis, where magnesium-rich groundwater interacts with calcium carbonate in existing limestone deposits. This interaction results in the replacement of some calcium ions with magnesium ions, leading to the formation of dolomite crystals.
Magnesite, Mg-calcite, aragonite, dolomite, calcite, nahcolite, quartz and chrysoberyl were identified as trapped solids in fluid inclusions. Similar mineral inclusions were also found in the emeralds themselves. ... Geochemistry of emerald deposits of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Geological Association of Canada, Mineralogical Association …
Dolomite is a double carbonate of calcium and magnesium (CaCO3, MgCO3). The chief undesirable impurities are iron followed by chromite, manganese, vanadium and lead, all of which may cause defects in the float glass or color glass. For certain commercial colorless glass the Fe2O3 content up to 0.25% is permissible, but for pure colorless glass ...
Calcite and dolomite marble deposits from the Lesser Himalaya (northern Pakistan) have been investigated in the past; however, those studies were limbed mostly to general geology.
Mineralogical studies of the magnesite deposits in the Khuzdar District, Balochistan, Pakistan were made using the X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. These Kraubath-type magnesite deposits are hosted within serpentinized harzburgites, associated with Bela Ophiolite of Cretaceous age. The deposits occur as cryptocrystalline veins of stockwork …

Dolomite serves as the host rock for many lead, zinc, and copper deposits. These deposits form when hot, acidic hydrothermal solutions move upward from depth through a fracture system that encounters a dolomitic rock unit. These solutions react with the dolomite, which causes a drop in pH that triggers the precipitation of metals from solution.
DOLOMITE 30-6 Dolomite D olomite (CaCO 3.MgCO 3) theoretically contains CaCO 3 (54.35%) and MgCO 3 (45.65%) or CaO (30.4%), MgO (21.9%) and CO 2 (47.7%). However, in nature, dolomite is not available in this exact proportion. Hence, in commercial parlance, the rock containing 40-45% MgCO 3 is usually called dolomite. Dolomite …
Dolomite can also serve as a host rock for lead, zinc, and copper deposits. In the chemical industry, dolomite is used as a source of magnesia (MgO). The steel industry uses dolomite as a sintering agent in processing iron ore and as a flux in the production of steel. In agriculture, dolomite is used as a soil conditioner and as a feed additive ...
